Honor Play full detailed review

Huawei, Honor has launched its Honor Play smartphone in India. Honor Play has a Hisilicon Kirin 970 chipset and it is a dual camera setup phone. The 4 GB RAM variant of Honor Play is priced at Rs 19,999 and the 6 GB RAM variants will be sold for Rs 23,999. Honor Play is the first smartphone in India that uses GPU turbo technology. Explain that this technology is special for mobile gaming. Metal Unibody, Vertical Dual Rear Camera, 19.5: 9 display, Honor Play equipped with the company's flagship processor presents a very strong paperwork. Huawei's mid-range flagship handset will give a tough challenge to Nokia 7 Plus, Vivo V9 Oppo F7 and Xiaomi Mi A2 in the market. Is Honor Play Buying Bargain Deal or Not? Let's know.

Honor Play Design
The most important feature of Honor Play is its metal unibody which is like the Honor View 10 launched last year. If seen, the company has used Glass back panel in Honor 10, Huawei P20 Lite and Huawei P20 Pro. But some of the latest phones have been tried. If talking on the basis of consistency and strength, glass cannot match body metal. Honor play is less smooth than Honor 10 but it does not look like premium. Due to its large display and thin body, the smartphone does not fit easily in hands.

If you look at Honor Play, you will feel that the design is a sign of Honor 10, on the edge of the screen there are very thin borders. The notch of Honor Play is a bit bigger. The lower part of the phone is small, but Honor's people have got a place. Honor Play is hard to hold easily in hand, but despite having a 6.3-inch display, the phone is very compact. Honor Play will find Navy Blue and Midnight Black Color in India.

Due to the extremely thin bezel and edge-to-edge design, fingerprint sensor back panel is provided in Honor Play. Because the phone is quite long, due to this there may be some problem with your fingers reaching the fingerprint sensor. If you hold the user phone correctly, he will be able to easily use the fingerprint sensor. On the right side of the phone, you will find the power button to increase and reduce the sound and power button. The same, on the left side of the phone, the hybrid dual-sim tray has been given. If you want you can put two Nano SIM or a Nano SIM and a MicroSD card. Honor Play has 64 GB internal storage, which you can extend to 256 GB with the help of card.

At the bottom of the phone, you will get a 3.5 mm headphone jack with USB-Type C port. Apart from this, you get a loudspeaker which can make you a little disappointed. We tested the speaker while playing audio files, YouTube videos, and games and found that there is a bad sound on the full volume. The thickness of the phone is 7.5 millimeters and its weight is 176 grams. Honor Play's build quality is average.

Honor Play Specification and Display
The Honor Play Company is equipped with its own flagship processor Hisillicon Kirin 970. Explain that this chipset has also been used in Honor 10, Honor View 10 and Huawei P20 Pro. IFA is expected to present the company Kirin 980 processor in 2018. For the Artificial Intelligence Processing, the Kirin 970 is equipped with the Chipset Neural Processing Unit (NPU). This improves camera performance, battery life, and app optimization. There is a GPU turbo in Honor Play for gaming optimization. Claims that this gives 60 percent better performance and 30 percent better battery life while playing a game. Honor Play will be found in two RAM variants - 4 GB and 6 GB For power backup, a 3750 mAh battery is provided. Honor Play has 64 GB UFS 2.1 storage. In terms of connectivity, the phone has 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, Bluetooth version 4.2 LE, GPS / A-GPS, GLONASS and USB type-C support. Accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and proximity sensor are part of the phone. Honor Play supports 4G network with dual sim.

The smartphone has a 6.3-inch Full HD + IPS LCD display. Its resolution is 1080x2340 pixels, with an aspect ratio of 19.5: 9. Works in the phone octa-core  Hisillikon Kirin 970 chipset with which the Mali-G72 GPU To control battery consumption you can set full HD + and HD + resolution in Honor Play itself. For this, you have to set the screen resolution in the battery section of the settings. The viewing angle of Honor Play's display is great. When reviewing the phone, after setting the Honor Play to full HD + resolution, we had no problem of any kind. The screen was highly reflective when Honor Play was used in sunlight out. Some third party apps are not optimized for Display Notch. While playing a video app such as YouTube, the display zooms out and a black bar appears.

Honor Play's Performance, Software, and Battery Life
The performance of the Kirin 970 processor is no doubt that this is a great chipset. While pubg, asphalt 9, 4g connectivity and social media multitasking, 6GB RAM variants of Honor Play Slow or say no at all. Honor has given a new antenna design in his smartphone which claims to deliver better call quality. Calling Experience was also good in poor connectivity. While reviewing Honor Play, we had no complaints about the earpiece. Honor Play in the Benchmark Test, this price range went far beyond the smartphone like Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo F7, and Vivo V9.

Gaming Experience is the biggest factor in Honor Play. In China, the company has done its own handset as a marketing gaming phone. We have tested the GPU Turbo Technology of the phone by playing PUBG and Mobile Legends. After playing some online matches of PUBG, we saw that the phone's performance was quite right. When the GPU Turbo was on while playing the game, it is difficult to say that without this technology what would be the experience. The phone is slightly warm after 25-30 minutes of playing the game continuously. While playing the game the battery was increasingly fast, although considering the need of the game there is nothing shocking.
We also saw the latest Asphalt 9: Legends game in Honor Play and the result was great. The company told us that in coming OTA updates, '4D Gaming' will be added to Honor Play. Honor Play will run on EMUI 8.2, which is based on Android 8.1. We believe that EMUI has been much better in the last few years, it is now ready to compete with the Shawomi's MIUI. There is also some work features such as One-Hand Mode, Navigation Gesture, Theme Catalog and WiFi + (It is capable of switching easily between WiFi and mobile network).

Many unwanted apps are still there. In Honor Play, you will get pre-installed games such as Asphalt nitro and Sonic Master. There are also apps like Mirror, Compass, Phone Clone, Translator, and Quick. We did not get any of these apps to work. There have been some changes in the UI such as the Android Message default messaging app and Google Chrome default browser in Honor Play. Honor Play supports Face Recognition from a 16-megapixel selfie camera. We found that the Face Unlock feature was quite accurate. However, this does not work in low light. Increasing the brightness of the display at night, it easily detects the face. We did not have any problems while using the fingerprint sensor.
The 3,750 mAH battery is given in Honor Play. 30-minute gaming, full day calling, quick email check and social media browsing keeps battery one day. In the HD Video Battery Test, we found that the battery backs up to 10 hours and 45 minutes. The phone has fast charging support, the charger found with the phone takes about 2 hours to charge 0 to 100 percent.

Honor Play Camera
There will be a vertical dual rear camera setup in Honor Play. There is a 16-megapixel primary sensor, which has an angel's F/2.2 and 2-megapixel secondary sensor, whose incarnation is F/2.4. The rear camera comes with LED flash. The front camera is 16 megapixels, which comes with F/2.0 aperture. The company needs to work on both of its cameras to compete with Asus and Xiaomi Smartphone cameras to get this price.

Like Honor 10, Honor Play comes with Artificial Intelligence capture mode. This technique never works well then never. There was a fine color balance in the picture taken in low light, while the light was in sufficient quantity, the picture taken was exposed more exposed. It is a good honor in the Honor smartphone that you can leave Artificial Intelligence Inhalation even after taking a picture. It gives you the freedom to choose between two versions of every shot. When the phone's camera is placed in the direction of a person, the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) automatically activates Portrait Mode. Apart from this, we have not seen any use of Artificial Intelligence Processing in the Camera app. In the Camera app, you will find the manual arcade, portrait mode, photo, video and AR lens feature. Apart from this, you will also find Slow-motion recording, Night mode, Time-lapse mode, 3D Panorama and many other features.

Front and rear camera sensors support real-time bokeh effects. Portrait mode works in an irregular way in the front camera. While photographing inside the house, it was not able to properly detect the face. When we took the phone to the light side, it started working properly. The selfie shot in the light of day is quite sharp but the picture taken in low-light can frustrate you. Rear dual camera setup is capable of recording 4K and front camera Full HD + (2280x1080) video. Honor Play supports electronic image stabilization. Still, the video quality is not very good.

Our decision
Honor Play is an affordable smartphone coming with Kirin 970 chipset, in a way it is a hands-free handset. The design of Honor Play is quite slick and it is quite good to look. However, due to size and average camera quality, some people would not want to buy this handset.  Honor Play comes with the GPU Turbo which is a good option for the company. In terms of performance, Honor Play's position of positioning is below 10. The tempting price goes in favor of this phone. It looks strong contender in the budget of 20,000-25,000 rupees. Regrettably, it is not available in the open cell according to the company's promise.
